Note:  All titles are AKC (American Kennel Club), the only true, original dog registration and show organization in the U.S.  Abbreviation guide:  Ch. = conformation champion; Ch. pts. = conformation champion points); FCh. = field champion; DCh. = dual champion (both conformation and field championships); C.D. = companion dog; C.D.X. = companion dog excellent; U.D. = utility dog; T.D.= tracking dog; NA = novice agility; NAJ = novice agility jumpers; OA = open agility; OAJ = open agility jumpers; JE = junior earthdog; MS = miniature smooth designator

We anticipate having puppies of both show and pet quality available.   Show quality means I feel that the pup will grow up with few conformation faults (no dog is perfect) according to the AKC Official Standard of the Dachshund and will be able to finish it's breed championship with a good handler.  Pet quality means that the pup has either several minor conformation (not health) faults or one major conformation fault (such as a missing testicle or a missing tooth) according to the AKC Official Standard of the Dachshund standard which would make it difficult, or even impossible, to finish it's AKC conformation championship title.  Most of my pet quality pups are actually good enough to be shown and even win some points, unlike some breeders' pet stock who barely resemble dachshunds.  Since there are usually at least one or two outstanding pups in each of my litters that I will keep for show and/or breeding, I feel that the slightly lesser quality pups deserve homes of their own as beloved companions.

Pet puppies, regardless of color, are sold on spay/neuter contracts with limited AKC registration papers and health guarantees.   People interested in a pet puppy should be prepared to provide references, such as from their vet and obedience/agility instructor or from a local kennel club member.  Nonrefundable $50 deposits are accepted to reserve a pet quality puppy, although a specific pup cannot be chosen until the show quality pups have been selected at 10 weeks of age.  Serious inquiries are invited from established breeders of show dogs for show-quality puppies as we do sell our good ones, both solids and piebalds, with show-potential guarantees.   See our  Older Show/Performance Prospects  page (link at bottom of this page) for older, available show or performance prospects, and our Individual Older Pups or Dogs For Sale page for older available pet puppies and young adults.

Duchwood's Count Cameron MS   Date of Birth:  January 25, 2010  Litter Composition:  1 dark red boy  Pup pictured at 15 weeks of age.          "Pavel" - this little guy is quite cute.  Although he has moderate front and rear angles, he moves pretty well with a straight topline and has a very handsome head.  He is going to stay fairly small, probaby less than 11 lb.  He can go as a pet on a neuter contract for $450 or overseas as a show dog (see show prospects page).
Laurel - dam -  available as a pet or performance prospect  Tango - sire        boy #2 - "Granger" - available as a pet or show/performance  prospect	Duchwood's Little Laurel MS x Duchwood's Tangled Web MS, NA, NAJ (ch. pts., OAJ legs)  Date of Birth:  February 1, 2010  Litter Composition:  1 dark red piebald girl, 1 black/tan piebald boy, 4 dark red piebald boys  This is our first all-piebald litter in over 3 years and will probably be our only one this year.  Pups should have fabulous temperaments like mom and dad.  The sire, Tango, is an awesome agility dog.  He's my little "border collie".    Boy #1, Gyro, will stay here as a show prospect.   Boy #5, Baxter, and Boy #3, Tanner, have gone to a pet home in Alabama.  The girl, Sugar, has gone to a performance home in Illinois.    Boy #4, Dylan, has gone to a performance/conformation home in Iowa.    Boy #2 - "Granger" is adorable with the same personality as his parents.  He has a good shoulder assembly; a good topline; and lovely rear angles.  His head is adorable and he loves belly rubs; available as a pet or performance prospect for $450 on neuter contract; possible show quality.

Duchwood's Count Cameron MS   Date Of Birth:  February 2, 2010  Litter Composition: 2 clear red girls, 1 black/tan piebald boy, 1 dark red piebald girl    Pups pictured at 12 weeks of age.        black/tan piebald boy - "Tye" will stay here as a show prospect.   smaller red girl - "Bitsy" - this tiny thing is finally growing although she is going to stay pretty small.  Her conformation is outstanding, though, so she will stay here as a kaninchen show prospect for now.      red piebald girl - "Becki" - has nice front and rear angles, a good topline, and a pretty head; topline a little unlevel when trotting.  She will be quite small.  Her personality is starting to blossom now that some of the other pups in her pen are gone.  She loves to play tug.  Available as a pet for $450 on a spay contract.                      red girl #1 - "Bobbi" - this little girl has decent conformation with moderate front and rear angles; her topline is a little uneven when moving but she has a lovely head.  She has white on her chest and toes which would make it difficult to show her so she is available to a pet home for $450 on a spay contract.  She will be small - maybe 8 lb. at maturity.  We discovered by accident that she ADORES little kids and goes out of her way to climb into their laps to give kisses.  She needs to go to a pet home with children.                    red girl #2 - "Bitsy" - gorgeous conformation but too leggy and light-boned for my taste.  Hand raised and spoiled, we are reluctant to part with Bitsy but she is now big enough to go to a special pet home for $450 on a spay contract.
