Finally got new pics June '06 - boy, is this girl growing!  14.1 3/4 in front, 14.3 in the rear.  Picked this now 2-yr. old filly up from a kill sale.  Taffy was not even halter broken when we got her, but she is a smart cookie and has quickly caught on with very little work.  I taught her to lunge and change directions in 10 minutes and have done most of the Clinton Anderson desensitizing and lunging for respect exercises in about 3 sessions.  I have also sat on her back while my husband led her around and she never even batted one of those long, long eyelashes!  She has now been saddled and ridden as of May '07 - very quiet and calm.  We've been working with her on the ground and she's done remarkably well - she now ties very well and leads and stands for the farrier.  Very nonspooky, quiet and safe to work around.  These pictures do not do her justice as she has lovely conformation and a rather refined face with big doe eyes.   She has wonderful big feet and large bones for her size, not to mention those long, straight legs, so I think she's going to be quite a  sturdy horse.  She's incredibly fast and can keep up with the other big TBs when they gallop around the pasture.  She's got the more refined head of a Quarter Horse rather than the big head of a draft horse.  Her sire was a Thoroughbred, her dam a Quarter Horse/Belgian Draft cross.   She is an incredibly easy keeper and stays fat on grass and hay.

Waxy's Choice - SOLD!

Breed:  JC Thoroughbred - no papers
Sex:  Gelding
Potential:  Eventing, Hunter/Jumper Prospect, Lesson Prospect
Date of Birth:  January 11, 2000
Height:  15.3 3/4 H barefoot
Color:  bright bay, no white
Price:  $1,500 prior to training - SALE $900

"W.C." is off the track and retired sound at age 7!  He's not spooky, trailers well, doesn't crib or weave, and is very sweet boy.  He raced 18 times over 4 years and only placed twice, so he was obviously very slow and careful.   He stands tied to my wash rack with no movement at all and is totally quiet to work around on the ground - he even puts his head down for the bridle.  Not at all sensitive around his ears; can rub and pet both of them.  Stands totally still for me to mount him with my little step ladder. Nice overstride at the walk and trot.  Needs shoes in front at least - typical TB feet with low heels and flat soles.  Quietly trots over 4 poles on the ground; does not flip his head around like a lot of off-the-track TBs do.  Trots and canters quietly in both directions - lovely rocking chair canter which is not fast at all and feels balanced in both directions.  He is athletic and clever with his feet and quickly figures out jumps and in-and-outs.  The jumping video clip shows him jumping his first 24-ft in and out with jumps set at 2 ft.  This guy is really neat and I am impressed with how sane and careful he is.  He is not at all spooky or looky and does not care where the other horses are or if there is another horse in the ring with him.

W.C. is a lovely, athletic looking horse who would make a nice eventing prospect, lesson prospect, or an elegant hunter.  He is quiet enough for an advanced beginner.  I've thrown the neighborhood kids on his back for "pony" rides and he is very slow and careful with them.  His price is low prior to my putting time into training him.

SCHOONER - SOLD!
Breed - Registered JC Thoroughbred
Sex - Gelding
Potential:  Dressage, Jumping
Date of Birth - April 5, 1993
Height -  17 hands
Color - Liver Chestnut with 2 white hind socks
Price - now reduced to $2,500

Never raced - we've owned him since he was 2 years old.   Does First level dressage, schooling 2nd level.  Very light in the bridle.  Jumps 3 ft. with scope to go higher and has evented, and won,  Pre-Novice Horse Trials but has very low jumping mileage as I have not done much with him over the years.  Trail rides just fine with other horses - not spooky.  Totally comfortable in any dressage or jumping arena.   Has 3 nice gaits.  He needs an intermediate rider with soft hands and quiet legs - will not tolerate someone getting in his face.   Can do anything to him on the ground.  Clips, loads, ties.  Very sweet and friendly - follows you around in the pasture.  No vices. Easy keeper - stays fat on just pasture.  Ignores dogs underneath him.  Would make a great field hunter, too.

      "NICO"

TUNICA HILLS
Breed - sire was 1/2 TB, 1/2 Percheron, dam unknown, probably paint (from Angola Prison breeding program - has prison brand on left haunch)
Sex - Gelding
Potential:  Event/Hunter/Jumper/Dressage Prospect
Date of Birth:  2003
Height:  15.3 hands barefoot, will probably mature at 16.0 hands
Color:  bay roan, 4 high white stockings, white on thighs and belly, bald face, dark eyes
Price:  $3,500

"Nico" is a striking boy who is very sweet and calm.  Nothing seems to bother him and he is not at all spooky.  Stands tied quietly, good for farrier, sound, no vices, easy keeper - stays fat on just grass or hay.  OK with dogs walking under him.  Lively but easily controlled.  Will stop instantly when you say "whoa".  Does lovely rein yields and is now getting on the bit although I have not ridden him much lately.  Knows Clinton Anderson lunging and can send over jumps on the lunge.  Nice soft mouth and flexible body.  Very floaty mover so would make a good dressage horse.  Lovely big hard feet that rarely need trimming with sturdy bones and joints.  Willing jumper and careful with his feet although I have only jumped him maybe 3 times total.  This flashy boy would look good in any discipline.
