Older Pups and Adults Available to Approved Pet/Performance Homes
Last Updated 05/13/13
We occasionally have available for sale older individual dogs which do not fit into our breeding program or who are retired from the show ring.  Some dogs sold as pets are already spayed or neutered but those that are not MUST be spayed or neutered by their new owners before any AKC registration papers will be sent.   For serious inquiries, contact Sandy at (225) 629-5067, or MRUSSEL1@IX.NETCOM.COM

PLEASE CONSIDER US, TOO, WHEN LOOKING FOR A LOVING PET.  WE MAY BE OLDER, BUT WE'RE EITHER HOUSE-BROKEN ALREADY, OR MUCH EASIER TO HOUSE-BREAK THAN A TINY PUPPY.  WE LOVE PEOPLE, TRAVEL WELL IN THE CAR, WALK ON LEAD, STAY QUIETLY IN OUR CRATES, AND HAVE HAD ALL OF OUR SHOTS.

WE CRAVE INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION  - PLEASE GIVE US A HOME  OF OUR OWN!

   "ENZO"
SPECIAL NEEDS DOG!          FREE TO APPROVED PET/PERFORMANCE HOME!

Date of Birth: January 16, 2011

Enzo is a handsome, very active and athletic black/tan boy who we think has EPI (Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency) and who is apparently allergic to certain protein sources.  He was a totally normal puppy until he was 7 months of age when he started losing weight very fast and developed very loose stools.  Preliminary tests and the symptoms indicated EPI with possible allergies, so he was put on enzyme powder (non-prescription), vitamins, and a commercial salmon/rice diet.  He responded immediately and is now a very healthy weight with normal stools (photos need updating).  He desperately needs a home where he would get much more attention.  The enzyme powder will cost about $150 or less a year and is easy to obtain online without a vet prescription.  Enzo LOVES people, is very playful, and gets along fine with female dogs and non-dominant male dogs, but he is aggressive to other young  male dogs.  He would make a great jogging partner or agility dog as he is a very high energy dog who needs a lot of exercise every day (a big yard to run in with another dog or two to chase squirrels and butterflies would also fit the bill). I've done a little agility training with him and he really wants to please and catches on quickly.  He is very quiet and good in his crate and is leash-trained.  Neutering him will probably help with his male agression issues which we can do here for $150.  Shipping to any part of the country is $350, and would include his enzyme powder.

    "HALO"
Duchwood's Crooked Halo MS
(Ch. Lisego Nosa Vitamin Yu x Duchwood's Lady Ellen MS)

Date of Birth:  January 16, 2007

Halo is a small (about 8.5 lb.), dark red, gorgeous, sweet, affectionate girl who hates dog shows and was not a good producer (l litter, 2 so-so pups).  She is available to a loving, quiet home who wants a cuddle bun, but she would also enjoy long walks and a chance to hunt squirrels or bunnies.  She does not like children so would be a good choice for an older person/couple.  She loves to travel, though, and is crate- and leash-trained.  Halo is available for $250 if we spay her and get a dental done here first, or for $100 if you spay/dental her yourself.  Shipping to any part of the country is $300.

  "MISS DAISY"
Duchwood's Miss Daisy MS
(Ch. Lisego Nosa Vitamin Yu x Duchwood's Cow Patti MS)

Date of Birth:  June 14, 2010

Miss Daisy is a friendly, sweet girl who really seems to like men.  She recently gave us an "oops" litter of 3 adorable pups despite the "morning after" shot, but we really didn't want to breed her.  She loves to cuddle, "smiles" when excited, loves belly rubs, and is an active girl who needs to find her forever home (small toddlers seem to trigger her prey drive but older kids 10 years and up are OK).  She is crate-trained and leash-trained and is available to a pet home for $100 ($250 if spayed here first).  Shipping to any part of the country is $350.

"MISS KITTY"
Duchwood's Miss Kitty MS- free to a good home
(Ch. Lisego Nosa Vitamin Yu x Duchwood's Cow Patti MS)

Date of Birth:  June 14, 2010

We had been hanging onto Miss Kitty for show, but her topline is too soft.  She is a small, cute, very lively girl who can be affectionate and silly (loves belly rubs), but is definitely timid in new situations. She loves playing with my Border Collie but tends to be dominant with other, smaller females although she is currently incorporated into my pack and does not pick fights.  Miss Kitty is rather weird in that she freezes when anyone reaches for her, but will not bite, so I would even trust her with kids. She is gamey and likes to hunt.  She goes right up to adults and children and jumps up wagging her tail, wanting to be petted. She really needs lots of one-on-one attention and would do good in a quiet home with another, more confident dog.  She is leash-trained, crate-trained, and travels well.  She is available as a pet for free (new owner will have to spay her or $250 to have her spayed here first).  Shipping to any part of the country is $350.

   "AUDREY"
Duchwood's Hurricane Audrey MS
(Ch. Grandgables The Gladiator MS x Ch. Duchwood's After Dark MS)

Date of Birth:  August 29, 2005 (born during Hurricane Katrina)

Audrey is a healthy, active, friendly girl with a cute "hunter's crest" up her nose.  She did not turn out to be either a show dog or a producer (1 litter), so she needs to find a home of her own where she wil not be just one of the crowd.  She travels well, loves to cuddle, and gets along with everyone (men, women, children, other dogs).  She is available as a pet for $100 ($250 if spayed here and includes cost of dental) and shipping to any part of the country is $350.

    "OTTO"
Duchwood's Out On The Town MS
(Admindac's Almond Joy MSCP x FC Duchwood's Mighty Sprite MS)

Date of Birth:  July 11, 2007

Otto is too leggy and extreme to do well in the show ring here, but he is very gamey and would probably hunt bunnies.  He loves people and is very affectionate (gives kisses), but I would not trust him with children.  He is an active boy who is very dominant with other males despite his small (10 lb.) size.  He gets along fine with females and subordinate males.  He is crate-trained, leash-trained, and loves to travel.  Otto is available to a loving pet home for $100 ($200 for neuter and dental here first).  Shipping to any part of the country is $300.
