Our Girls (owned and co-owned, currently being shown, used for breeding, or waiting in the wings - see the Retired Girls page for females no longer actively used for breeding)

FLASH! We would like to find someone to help us show our dogs and raise puppies and take over some of the Duchwood line as we are getting older and would like to travel more. We are looking for someone with prior expericnce showing and breeding dogs (not necessarily Dachshunds) in AKC events, and someone who is also interested in either field trials or agility/obedience. This is a great opportunity to start out with finished dogs for breeding and finishable young show prospects to show. You must have the time, land and funds to devote to this endeavor (NO families with young children, please, and no college students) and must live within an 8-hour drive of Baton Rouge. All dogs will be co-owned at first until you prove your dedication and breeding ethics.

CH. Duchwood's Certainly Cerise MS (field points) - available to a pet home

Cerise is a stunning girl with lovely movement, perfect topline, gorgeous head and lovely rear angles. Her shoulder layback is fine but her upper arm is a little short as is her keel, but she is a floaty mover. She will be a wonderful replacement for her mother and she has her mom's outgoing personality. Cerise is turning out to be an enthusiastic bunny hunter, too, and now has her first field trial placement! Cerise finished her conformation championship with 4 majors in 2008! Thank you, judges! Update 2011 - Unfortunately, Cerise developed pyometra and had to be spayed before producing any pups for us. She is a sweet, silly girl who loves to cuddle and is now available to a special pet home.

She has a dynamite personality - she loves people and dogs and isn't afraid of anything. She is currently competing in Open agility. She is a serious bunny hunter and finally got the first place she needed to finish her field championship.

Casey is a heavy-boned girl with a stunning head. Her shoulder layback is lovely as are her rear angles. She had a perfect topline but could be longer in the upper arm. She lives in a show home in Florida with her co-owner, Lauren Richardson.

Katherine is a heavy-boned, low-to-the-ground, small girl who is better than her mother. She has an incredible shoulder assembly, a nice big forechest, pretty head; good ribbing and keel length, and a perfect topline. She is now a finished champion in 2008 with 3 BOV over specials from the classes and a Hound Group 3. She was bred and had only 1 puppy in 2010. Her pregnancy triggered an autoimmune condition (hypothyroidism), so she will be spayed and placed as a pet. She is now perfectly healthy.

Orca is a tiny, feisty girl like her mom but has a much better head and bone. Her shoulder layback is lovely but her upper arm could be longer. Topline is perfect; rear angles are nice; and and ribbing and keel lengths are lovely. She is a lovely mover and has matured nicely so will probably be shown. She is a chocolate carrier. Orca is showing promise in the field as a bunny hunter and has just had a litter of 6 pups.

Tassel is a tiny little red girl with a big personality. She could have more rear angles but is pretty nice otherwise. However, she was getting overlooked in the show ring so she has become a mom with her first litter of 4. She apparently carries the piebald gene and produces stunning pups.

She is very leggy right now and is going through "the gawkies", so it will be awhile before she can be shown seriously. However, she has a RWB to a major her first time in the ring.

Eve is a tiny girl with a lovely front and head, good topline, and so-so rear angles. We have not gotten around to showing her yet but her temperament is cute and she has a quiet bark like a sea lion.
